Callus or Nerve problem? I have a callus (thick skin) directly under my big toe and 2nd toe, (bottom of foot)?
Is this what’s causing a tingling sensation in that area or something else? Will the problem be solved if I use a callus removal treatment?
Both. The callus is probably putting pressure on the nerves of your toes when you apply weight, via walking/standing. The tingling may not stop as soon as you get rid of the callus. The nerves have been irritated now and will need to “heal”. Take a look at the shoes you are wearing, maybe you can avoid it happening again. For example Birkenstocks have a ridge that irritates the nerve in the big toe and can leave you with tingling and numbness for months until the ridge wears down and the area is no longer aggravated. Hope that helps. Amanda RN
